All of our tours are very unique and a ton of fun. Assuming you already have seen Old San Juan the next on our list is... Condado. It is just a short drive away from Old San Juan (10mins) and if you're looking for some city action... Condado is the place. As you leave OSJ you come up on the Dos Hermanos bridge. It's a splendid landmark, which was designed and built by two brothers, hence the name (Two Brothers). It’s very popular for picture taking and a great transition between the old and the new world. Once you pass the bridge and a few minutes later you’re already there. Condado is an oceanfront community with a nice beach, many shops, hotels and restaurants. It’s casually known as the hipster village, since it’s a favorite with a younger crowd. People like to stroll down Ashford Avenue and hang out in the main park called La Ventana al Mar (Window to the Sea). It’s a fantastic space right off the ocean between the La Concha and Vanderbilt hotels. It’s got a huge grassy space, where people often do yoga or tai chi for example. You’ll find many people running, bicycling, picnicking or simply unwinding in the sun and open space. There’s a beautiful fountain there too and many benches to sit on and relax. This metropolitan part of San Juan with many modern style buildings often is compared to Miami, but it's much smaller and much more laid back. The easy access to the beach makes it a perfect place to dip your toes in the water. So whether you want to hit the beach, do some shopping or try your luck in a casino Condado is your place.
Santurce is another area of San Juan that can’t be missed. It’s actually one of the most densely populated districts of Puerto Rico. Well known for its vibrancy, fantastic restaurants and authentic local vibes. The main attraction of Santurce is La Plaza del Mercado or La Placita, as it’s called affectionately. It is still fairly unknown among the tourists but the locals love it. During the day the plaza is used as a fruit and vegetable market and at night it comes alive with music and salsa dancing. This little gem is like no other place on the island. Come here after hours to immerse yourself in the culture of a real Puerto Rican social setting. You won't regret it!
Piñones is one of the most wonderful areas on the island and our absolute favorite spot to hit the beach. It’s a 30-40 minute drive from Old San Juan (depending on the traffic), but it’s totally worth it. Almost the whole way there you ride along the coast, so the views are absolutely spectacular. Piñones is a Forest Reserve and also a beach town with an 11 kilometer nature trail, many shops, restaurants and kiosks that serve local fare. The beach is very popular with the locals and for a good reason. The water is calm, clear and warm. There’s a rock barrier that protects from big waves hitting the beach and creates a pool of undisturbed water safe for the beachgoers and especially children. It’s such a blast just floating uninterrupted in the ocean. Piñones also has mangroves and caves that should not be missed. What more could one want?
